Assistant Lending Manager

We are seeking experienced leader with a strong background in lending, underwriting, and assessing consumer’s financial information. This person will assist the Lending Manager with development and coaching of the lending team in order to maximize performance levels, efficient work flow and superior member services.



Responsibilities
:


 

  • Assists Lending Manager in planning office practice and procedures, including staffing and functional efficiencies.
  • Serves as underwriter for the credit union.
  • Making immediate loan decisions.
  • Responsible for training, motivating, directing and evaluating team member performance within the Lending area.
  • Assists team members in efficiently and effectively processing the various activities involved in credit granting, and performs such additional duties as might be assigned from time to time.
  • Assists in the preparation of credit information necessary to establish credit limits, including such factors as applicant's assets, credit experience, and personal references, based on predetermined standards.
  • Occasionally interviews applicant to obtain personal and financial data and fills out application for personal, auto, home equity, and signature and credit card loans.
  • Contacts credit bureaus, employers, and personal references by telephone, email, or letter to check credit and personal references.
  • Notifies applicants by mail, telephone, or in person of acceptance or rejection of application.
  • Keeps record or file of credit transactions:  inquiries, loans pending, loan activity report by representative, daily loan listing.
  • Provides assistance in filing, inputting data to computer, recording information as required, answering telephones, photocopy, faxing, typing letters, and general office routine.
  • Being an advocate of Michigan First culture.
     

 

Requirements

 

  • Must have an Associate’s degree or above in business or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 -3 years of related experience and /or training preferably in a financial institute or related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as board lending policies, regulation respecting lending (i.e., Regulation Z, The Fair Credit Reporting Act, etc.) and the ability to write policy statements, procedural and operating manuals, and speak effectively before groups of employees or members of the credit union. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external members.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 year’s leadership or managerial experience.  Experience with recruiting, interviewing and training a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of lending processes and experience with financial institution products and service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills and the ability to multi-task and be flexible.
  • Experience in a financial institution preferred.
