Florida Troops to Teachers

Attention: ACTIVE DUTY, NATIONAL GUARD and SELECTIVE RESERVIST, and RETIRED MILITARY personnel: 

• Are you interested in a career that allows you to continue service to your country after you leave the military?
• Do you want a career where you actually witness the positive results of your work?
• If so, then consider a career as a TEACHER!

The Troops to Teachers program is a service offered to military personnel that can assist you in this career transition. The program provides counseling services to registered participants concerning:

• Options for completing certification requirements
• The employment process with schools/school districts
• Employment options
• Factors to consider in making a career move.

Also, financial assistance is available to certain program participants. A participant who is eligible for financial assistance may receive a stipend of up to $5000 to pay for certification requirements or a bonus of $10,000 if hired in a high needs school.

The Troops to Teachers program is not an employment service, but if you are thinking of entering the teaching profession, we can assist you in determining if teaching is the correct career move for you, and if it is, we can help in making the transition a smoother process.

The Troops to Teachers program is open to Active Duty, National Guard, or Selected Reserve component personnel whose last period of service was characterized as honorable and fit at least ONE of the following categories:

• Retired
• Within 1 year of retirement
• Separated with six or more years of creditable service towards retirement on or after 1 Oct 90
• Separated with a service-determined physical disability and register within four years from date of separation. Note: Physical Disability must be noted on service separation documentation not a VA determination. Medical discharge is not the same as discharge due to physical disability.
• Current members of the Selected Reserve or National Guard with six or more years of creditable service towards retirement.
