Gainesville Health Care Center is part of the Not for Profit Gainesville Council on Aging, Inc., of Florida a provider of Skilled Nursing Services and Long-term Care.  Our Health Care Center has  been serving the Alachua County community since 1982. We are dedicated to delivering quality individual nursing and rehabilitation therapy to every person entrusted to our care. Our 180-bed facility, in the University of Florida town of Gainesville, Florida, is conveniently located across the Shands and VA Hospital Complexes

 

Our Healthcare Services Include:

 

  • Inpatient rehabilitation including physical, occupational and speech therapy                                                                                                  
  • Care for those diagnosed with Huntington’s disease
  • Alzheimer’s program
  • Special rehabilitation for those challenged by amputation, arthritis, stroke and orthopedic complications    
  • HIV specialized care

Job Description

  • Administer prescribed medications or start intravenous fluids, and note times and amounts on patients' charts.
  • Observe patients, charting and reporting changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action.
  • Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, or performing catheterizations.
  • Sterilize equipment and supplies, using germicides, sterilizer, or autoclave.
  • Answer patients' calls and determine how to assist them.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
  • Work as part of a health care team to assess patient needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions.
  • Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests or treatments and explain procedures.
  • Assemble and use equipment such as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers.

Requirements
    Requirements:

  • Florida LPN license.
  • Must pass FDLE background screen
  • Pre-employment drug test.
  • Successful candidates must have prior geriatric experience.
  • Compassionate humane care givers required.
  • Positions available on evening and night shifts.
