RNs, RHIAs, RHITs for Medical Data Abstraction

Description WVMI, a nationally recognized resource for healthcare quality improvement, has an immediate need for an independent contractor for medical data abstraction. Must be an RN with a valid license or a medical records professional with current RHIA or RHIT certification and have recent clinical/HIM experience. Data abstraction experience and knowledge of HEDIS and Joint Commission hospital quality measures a plus. Computer proficiency is required. This is stimulating, steady work with virtually unlimited earnings potential. Most work is done from the abstractor’s home, with a visit to a area medical center at least monthly. (Most assignments will require automobile travel only.) Must have access to broadband Internet (cable or DSL). Areas of needed coverage include the following cities (we are seeking individuals who reside within one of these cities or within easy ground traveling distance of it): Albany, New York; Albuquerque; Altoona, Pennsylvania; Bay Pines, Florida; Dallas; Fresno, CA; Miami; Reno, Nevada; and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Requirements

A valid RN license in state of assignment OR current RHIA or RHIT certification is required.

 

Must have strong computer skills, with access to broadband Internet.

 

At least four (4) years of recent clinical/HIM experience.

 

Data abstracting experience helpful.

 

Some travel using personal transportation will be required.

 

Evidence of stable work history expected.
