Software Engineer

Position Summary:

Based on input from educators and/or specification, author software solutions to support PASCO’s growing suite of software products.  Design, develop, and test software for use in secondary and higher science education. Analyze existing software products to plan and implement significant new functionality, while maximizing compatibility with earlier versions. Support existing products with investigation and problem resolution when needed. Work as part of a close-knit team to assure a high-level of integration and compatibility between, and cohesiveness within, software products. Apply experience in graphics, scientific/engineering data acquisition, numerical analysis, data communications, and user interface design to produce software offering high technical capability with maximum ease-of-use. Develop in-house test utilities in support of manufacturing processes when needed.

Qualifications:

• BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Equivalent
• Five to Eight years of applicable design/development experience
• Proficiency in C++ application development on Microsoft Windows platforms

Additional desired qualifications:

• Prefer MS Degree
• Experience in developing applications for science & engineering in secondary or higher-level educational uses
• Application development experience on Macintosh platforms
• Strong experience in graphics, laboratory science, data acquisition, numerical analysis, and user-interface design
