Description
The Accounting Manager will manage a moderate sized group of exempt professionals in the corporate accounting organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the creation and review of monthly reports on subscriber information used for programming decisions.
- Understand programmer contracts to determine payment requirements and calculations.
- Review and audit payments for programmers based upon contract terms.
- Work directly with Legal and Programming Operations on contract interpretations that impact payment calculations.
- Assist with ensuring payments are accurate and timely.
- Assist with circulation and tracking of payments for approvals.
- Assist programmers as needed with account, payment, and statement analysis.
- Serve as a liaison to the IT and Accounting departments to ensure programmer reporting is accurately supported by Dish Network.
- Draft and audit special report requests to IT to ensure correct subscribers are being reported and ensure that Dish Network is in compliance with the programmer contract.
- Assist in preparation of financial and budgetary analysis for the programming team.
- Particpate in launch meetings of new channels and understand contractual obligations of Dish Network.
- Manage Programmer Contractual Funds reporting.
- May compile source data used for programmer payments; maintain records, files and documentation.
- Compute, calculate and record or posts statistical, numerical or financial data.
- Review and determine accuracy of source data, account balances, calculations, etc; investigate and reconcile any discrepancies.
- May develop queries; generate and distribute reports and work product.
- Communicate with programmer and respond to inquires; take corrective actions.
- May be responsible for SOX documentation including updates and support of the audits by internal and external auditors.
- Support audits performed by Programmers or their designee.
- Assist with ensuring that the Programming payment process is SOX compliant for accuracy and completeness.
- Responsible for process improvements and implementation of new systems that result in efficiencies within the department
- May supervise two to three staff members.
Requirements
Education Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in a related field or 4 years of accounting experience; and 2 years of related accounting experience; or equivalent of education and experience combined.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Skills
- Advanced organization and project completion skills
- Able to effectively manage multiple projects
- Broad knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Demonstrates strong understanding of concepts and issues across functional lines
- Strong writing skills: must be able to prepare formal documents to be presented to both internal senior management and external users
- Must be able to effectively serve as company advocate: negotiate for the company and department, both orally and written
- Complex analytical skills
