Globe University/Minnesota School of Business, a 130-year-old career college, has an immediate opening for a Dean of Faculty at Globe University in La Crosse, WI.

As the Dean of Faculty you are responsible for hiring, supervision, evaluation and dismissal of faculty as well as the academic integrity at the campus. You will work closely with all faculties, other Deans of Faculty, the Campus Director and the Dean of Students.
    

Key Responsibilities Include:

Operational Functions- Reporting to Director

 

  • Hiring, Supervision, and Evaluation and dismissal of Faculty working with campus directors on budget.
  • Implement instructor mentoring program to assist in development of professional standards during first year as MSB faculty.
  • Work a combination of day and evening hours to insure accessibility to all faculties.
  • Work with other Deans of Faculty for instructor load and supervision of shared instructors
  • Staff appropriate substitutes for the classroom.
  • Supervision of Faculty/Program Coordinators (May request Program Director as needed)
  • Conduct and/or oversight of faculty meetings
  • Attend and participate in all student services activities, new student orientations and graduation ceremonies.

 

Faculty- Academic Functions Reporting to Chief Academic Officer

 

  • Assessment of appropriate higher educational course rigor
  • Review course evaluations for necessary action and recommendations in cooperation with DOS. Dean of Faculty to review course evaluations with faculty members
  • Do new and existing instructor observations.
  • Assist new instructors in preparing appropriate Professional Development Plans at the end of instructors first quarter. Utilize information on observations and evaluations to develop appropriate plan to build skills in their first year. Track professional development quarterly for veteran faculty.
  • Work with General Education program director and instructors to assure Integration of Gen. Ed. philosophy. Work to ensure general education courses meet the rigor and standards necessary.
  • Responsible for New Faculty Orientation and New Instructor Training
  • Ensure course work and programs are based on recognized fields of study at the higher education level- critical thinking, problem solving, writing and mathematics and information technology. Monitor transfer and articulations agreements to support this
  • Monitor and work to maintain a full time faculty presence by program on a system level
  • Review of Syllabi/Addendum appropriateness
  • Assist faculty with developing lesson plans, syllabi addendum and learning new instructional methods.

 

Operational Functions- Reporting to Director

 

  • Ensure faculty is aware of curriculum, syllabi and book changes.
  • If requested by Dean of Students provide guidance along with program directors in the area of credit transfers and work experience.

 

Academic Functions Reporting to Chief Academic Officer

 

  • Meet with program directors on their scheduled visit days to implement and maintain curriculum standards and revisions.
  • Participate in curriculum council.
  • Oversight of library acquisitions process to ensure that the joint responsibility for acquisitions is in place. Oversight of librarian to ensure faculty inspire, motivate and direct student use of library. Use of Library statistical information for improvement, assessment of appropriate library assignments and finished products
  • Along with Chief Academic Officer, develop and implement quarterly in-service to meet faculty-training needs.
  • Appropriate credit hour in course and program development.
  • Understanding and compliance for academic portions of program accreditation working with the program director
  • Ensure that externships are of appropriate rigor in conjunction with program directors
  • Work with program directors with articulation agreements
  • Review of Advisory Board minutes sharing with adjunct day and eve faculty
  • Work with program directors in higher educational pedagogy, test-out rigor/standardization.

 

Administrative - Operational Functions- Reporting to Director

 

  • Work with Dean of Students on quarterly schedule to ensure appropriate instructor course assignments
  • Work with Dean of Students on any academic/instructional concerns.
  • Ensuring appropriate teaching resources in conjunction with Campus Director
  • Assist in licensing and accrediting reporting for faculty academic sections
  • Act as liaison between faculty and administration in academic affairs.
  • Work with DOS to determine assignment of Independent Study
  • DOS has responsibility for Student drops, Elective Approval, Grade/Sat Progress appeals DOF to work in conjunction with DOS as needed
  • Attend weekly campus management meeting.

 

Academic Functions Reporting to Chief Academic Officer

 

  • Work with Dean of Students on any academic/instructional concerns.
  • Work with Chief Academic Officer, program directors and all faculty to insure proper and appropriate development and implementation of Higher Ed. Pedagogy taking part or responsible for Academic Policy Development
  • IEP academic data, monitor survey (course, graduate, alumni, employer and campus) feedback, oversight of any needed improvement plans. Monitor survey response in regard to rigor, course observations, GPA
  • Maintaining appropriate faculty credentials and files in relation to regulatory standards.
  • Monitor Effectiveness of Entrance Testing and Remedial Needs
  • Member of an Academic Council Meeting along with the Dean of Students
Requirements

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

 

  • Dean of Faculty must have Master's degree, prefer Master's in Education with 3 years experience in curriculum development; educational effectiveness assessment and improvement; faculty development and performance appraisals; and 2 years management experience with large group of employees.
