Senior Web Graphic/User Interface Designer

Position Summary

We are looking for an energetic, passionate and highly motivated senior web graphic designer to join our software development team.  As a senior web graphic designer, you will be responsible for ensuring a compelling look and feel that meets branding, business and user requirements. This includes all phases of the design process: conceptual design/development, graphic design, interfaces design and art production.

The senior web graphic designer will work closely with the business and technical teams to establish and maintain visual integrity, user experience, brand standards, and consistency. The candidate must have a strong sense of effective web design and a passion for simple, elegant, user-centered design principles.

This position can be based out of either Lexington, MA, or South Bend, IN, but will serve both locations.

Primary Responsibilities

·         Lead web front-end graphic design for all Press Ganey web based application development

·         Develop and create web based graphic designs and user interfaces that are visually compelling, functionally enhance the user experience, and strongly promote brand standards and consistency throughout the web sites

·         Translate business requirements into conceptual design, and develop and create high fidelity prototypes, mock ups of web pages for applications that meet business and functional requirements

·         Collaborate closely with UI and backend developers to turn the innovative graphical web page designs into an interactive and functional user interface

·         Follow industry trends with regard to creative web graphic design technologies and techniques, and apply those techniques to the projects in a timely manner

Qualifications/Requirements

·         5+ years experience in graphic design for web based applications and solutions; possess a strong portfolio of websites for viewing

·         Expert proficiency in electronic design techniques using the latest versions of graphic design software and tools including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks, or others

·         Strong experience with user-centric web site design and best practices; strong visual style and thorough understanding of how typography, iconography, layout, color, images, and interactivity impact design and user experience

·         Experience or exposure to social networking/web 2.0 development and mobile channel delivery

·         In-depth knowledge in Flash and other rich-media & emerging technologies

·         Strong knowledge in and understanding of JavaScript, HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, and cross-browser compatibility

·         In-depth understanding of common web application UI issues and challenges, web UI best practice and emerging trend and technologies

·         Strong knowledge and experience with custom application development in a agile/scrum environment

·         BA/BS degree in fine art, graphic design or related
