Description


The full time Pharmacy Technician Program Director at Sanford-Brown Institute has the primary function of assisting the school in development and maintaining a quality program of instruction. 

 

  • Teach courses up to the maximum number of contact hours allowed by current accreditation.
  • Assess department staffing needs.
  • Assist in departmental recruitment efforts as determined by the VP of Academics.
  • Orient new departmental faculty members and train in program and techniques as designed by Sanford-Brown Institute.
  • Assist with the evaluation of departmental faculty and staff.
  • Recommend professional development activities to the VP of Academics.
  • Instruct classes as assigned by the VP of Academics.
  • Act as a substitute instructor as needed.
  • Propose a schedule of course offerings and teaching assignments to be offered in the upcoming module.
  • Conduct salary reviews in coordination with the VP of Academics.
  • Maintain course syllabi and course materials for all courses in his or her department.
  • Supervise departmental didactic faculty and clinical faculty or coordinator.
  • Supervise the planning, use, maintenance, and inventory of facilities and materials assigned to the department (including laboratory).
  • Advise the VP of Academics and the School President of departmental needs and requirements for inclusion in the annual school budget.
  • Assist in developing and updating the curriculum in conjunction with the corporate office.
  • Schedule and conduct department meetings.
  • Communicate with departmental faculty to obtain input and recommendations for the improvement of the school.
  • Counsel students and faculty members as needed to ensure a successful department.
  • Supervise and administer retention programs for the department to ensure attrition remains within acceptable guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of Pharmacy Technician through professional development (i.e. CME and professional seminars) and scholarly activities (i.e. published works, syllabi revisions, and/or curriculum revisions).
  • Perform duties and responsibilities required of an instructor as appropriate.
  • Post and maintain office and classroom schedules.
  • Ensure all grades within the department are posted in a timely manner.
  • Schedule, conduct, and maintain Advisory Committee Meetings.
  • Perform other duties as required by the School President, and VP of Academics.
  • Actively engage in retention activities including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress.
  • Assist students with registration and academic.
  • Provide assistance for the planning, development and maintenance of program curriculum.
  • Work to resolve student concerns.
  • Mentor select groups of new faculty and maintain continuity of curriculum.
  • Assist in the classroom review and the formation of Advisory Board.
  • Provide annual documentation of continuing professional growth.
  • Attend regularly scheduled program meetings, faculty in-service workshops and campus faculty/staff meetings.
  • Attend advisory board business meetings twice a year.
  • Manage special (including, but not limited to, the organization and posting of student work for display; assistance with orientation programs and open houses; assistance with accreditation preparation).
  • Adhere to and publicly support school policies and procedures, included but not limited to the faulty handbook and catalog.
  • Attend annual graduation ceremonies. 
Requirements

 

  • Documented expertise in academic subject area and work-related industry
  • Expertise in interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication skills, as demonstrated by data sheet, diplomas, degrees, transcripts, certification, CVs/Resumes, and in the personal interview.


Experience Required:

 

  • Must hold a current state registered pharmacy license (RPhar) or posses a current certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience preferred. One degree higher than the program degree is mandatory.
  • At least 2 years of documented industry experience:
