Position Description

Responsible for Oracle database administration duties including installation, monitoring, backup and recovery and tuning.  Will maintain uptime, consistency, scalability and performance while meeting business needs.  The ideal candidate will function as a Senior Oracle DBA, participating in the design and implementation of databases and systems that can support the ongoing company growth. Administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the availability, security and integrity of the Oracle databases. Responsible for developing and administering backup and recovery procedures. Ability to work in a team environment is essential.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities                 

  • Troubleshooting production problems and working effectively with other team members to identify and address problems
  • Oracle upgrades, script-writing, routine task automation, performing backups/recovery, database monitoring, SQL and performance tuning at all levels
  • Development, adherence, and enforcement of security standards and policies
  • Performing data analysis to provide management with timely and accurate information
  • Performing data management tasks as required - loading, editing, restoring and removing data at the requests of our clients, in accordance with data retention policies
  • Researching, testing and coordinating Oracle patches/upgrades
  • Testing of new features or 3rd party tools
  • Maintain database backup and recovery procedures that support business continuity
  • Assist with management of 3rd party & vendor relationships & SLA
  • Standard verification and approval of system change requests
  • Verifying, executing and following through with change requests
  • Know or quickly learn environment - technical and business, through initiative and direction from senior staff and/or peers
  • On call production support (24x7), database and object design

Requirements


 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years or relevant Oracle DBA, including versions 9i, 10g & 11g, with RAC
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, developing PL/SQL cod
  • Experience in a SaaS, high-availability environment
  • Knowledge of PCI & SAS70 compliance standards
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills
  • Ability and motivation to learn quickly in dynamic environment

 

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Information Systems
  • Oracle certification a plus
