The Hinds County Human Resource Agency (HCHRA) is a public non-profit Community Action Agency located in Jackson (Hinds County) Mississippi. The HCHRA has been providing services to the people in Hinds County since 1976. The Agency has a staff of approximately 400 and a budget of $20,000,000. HCHRA provides a wide expanse of programs designed to assist those in the county who most need help. Programs include Head Start, Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Home Delivered Meals, Rural General Public Transportation, Adolescent Offender Program and Families First Resource Center Program.
The Family Services Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of services to Head Start children and their families utilizing a case management approach. Primary duties include assisting in planning and implementing the recruitment, orientation and enrollment of age and income eligible children and families; implementing the Family Partnership process via assessing and building on family strengths and community assets; educating/counseling and referring individuals for assistance, advocating as needed to identify and remove barriers to self reliance while enhancing children and family member’s self-worth; maintaining accurate and confidential records; insuring compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and Other Regulations and Case Management.
