Description

The Hinds County Human Resource Agency (HCHRA) is a public non-profit Community Action Agency located in Jackson (Hinds County) Mississippi.  The HCHRA has been providing services to the people in Hinds County since 1976.  The Agency has a staff of approximately 400 and a budget of $20,000,000.  HCHRA provides a wide expanse of programs designed to assist those in the county who most need help.  Programs include Head Start, Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Home Delivered Meals, Rural General Public Transportation, Adolescent Offender Program and Families First Resource Center Program.

The Family Services Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of services to Head Start children and their families utilizing a case management approach.  Primary duties include assisting in planning and implementing the recruitment, orientation and enrollment of age and income eligible children and families; implementing the Family Partnership process via assessing and building on family strengths and community assets; educating/counseling and referring individuals for assistance, advocating as needed to identify and remove barriers to self reliance while enhancing children and family member’s self-worth; maintaining accurate and confidential records; insuring compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and Other Regulations and Case Management.

Requirements Job Description
Recruit and enroll Head Start eligible children, including those with special needs.

Develop and maintain comprehensive, confidential social/health service files on all enrolled children. 

Work with service providers to ensure that families receive all eligible and needed services.
Make referrals to appropriate agencies as needed.

Monitor enrollee's attendance to ensure compliance with Agency's guidelines and prepare and submit analysis on the cause of absenteeism.

Accompany enrolled children and parents to social/health agencies as needed.  Make home visits as necessary and conduct morning assessments on a daily basis.

College data, prepare and submit program reports as required.

Input data into computer applications to effectively track services as directed.

Provide Community Resource Director, Parent Handbook and other program materials to parents. 

Collect survey information from families and the community.

Participate in staff meetings, team planning sessions and parent meetings.

Attend workships, conferences and in-service training.

Actively solicit parent involvement in the program and recruit volunteers and in-kind contributions.

Requirements/Qualifications
B. S. Degree in Social Work and be eligible to sit for the Social Work License Exam, with two (2) years of experience in social work.  Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.  Must possess computer skills.

Salary Range
$
9.00 - 13.00 p/hr.
