Description
Brief Summary of Position:
Performs the manual technical tasks involved with the proper storage, distribution, packaging and labeling of drugs, associated record-keeping and patient charging systems under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and/or Chief Technician. Follows procedures for the operation of equipment and uses supplies wisely. Must follow and adhere to all federal and state laws and regulations, as well as the HCA Code of Conduct and SBMC Performance Standards.
Educational Level
Master’s degree or advanced degree program
College degree, 4 - 5 year program completed
High school plus some college or technical training (example LVN, RN Associate Degree)
X High school education/GED
Eighth - tenth grade education
Below eighth grade education
Licensure/Certifications:
Required: Registration in good standing with Texas State Board of Pharmacy
Required: Certification in aseptic preparation of sterile products ( 40 ACPE hours)
Experience:
· One-year hospital experience--inpatient pharmacy including actual IV skills preparation.
· Experienced in dispensing procedures; computer knowledge is helpful but not required
· Must possess good math skills
· Employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or support based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area as defined in this job.description/performance evaluation
