CLIENT:

 

Our client is the leader in the design and manufacture of custom plastic tubing extrusions for the medical device industry.  They supply leading medical device manufacturers around the world with custom medical grade plastic extrusions.  Their experience with uniquely challenging extrusion, expertise, and a commitment to quality, has led them into many industries.  Their plastics list is very diverse and includes; nylon, PVC, PEEK, polycarbonate, polyurethane and various other polymers.

 

JOB OPPORTUNITY:

 

POLYMER ENGINEER

 

The successful candidate will be the technical expert for manufacturing support of polymer extrusion processes.  Employing state-of-the-art laboratory analysis, the Polymer Engineer applies a systematic designed experiment approach to address performance of existing compounds or develop new materials from concept to scale up. Support manufacturing including production related matters involving troubleshooting. Lead project teams in the following; developing and executing validation protocols, process development and improvement, compliance and audits, equipment maintenance, cost savings, identification and implementation of manufacturing methods.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

·     Support manufacturing including production related matters involving day to day troubleshooting

·     Developing and executing validation protocols

·     Process development and improvement

·     Compliance and audits

·     Equipment maintenance

·     Cost savings

·     Identification and implementation of manufacturing methods.

·     Lead project teams.

·     Employing state-of-the-art laboratory analysis, the Polymer Engineer applies a systematic designed experiment approach to address performance of

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • ·         BS or higher in Polymer Engineering (or related)
  • ·         4+ years of thermoplastic extrusion experience preferred
  • ·         Expert in using CAD
      •           MUST HAVE HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • ·     A Bachelor’s Degree is required in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; however, an advanced degree is preferred.
  • ·     Credible candidates will have 4+ years of experience in manufacturing support working with thermoplastic polymers specifically within extrusion operation support.
  • ·     Less years of experience will be considered depending on advanced degrees.
  • ·     Candidate must be proficient with Process Validation and statistical analysis.
  • ·     Knowledge in the area of FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR) is a plus.
  • ·     Experience supporting manufacturing operations is required, including support of production equipment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • ·         FloWorks, Flow2000 for tooling design
  • ·         Experience using MPI to model flow simulations
          •          Small Diameter Polymer Tubing extrusion with tight dimensional tolerances (+/-         .0005"). Medical Devices

            •          Expert in using CAD
