Job Objective:

Responsible for all facets of internal and external financial reporting at LRN.

This role is also to serve as an assistant to the accounting manager for a number of functional duties, including but not limited intercompany account maintenance and key tax worksheets. Timely, accurate and complete records are expected to be generated and maintained at all times. A high degree of liasing with subsidiaries, responding to inquiries and managing monthly reporting to parent company is required.

Job duties:

Reporting:
  • Assist Accounting Manager in timely and accurate month-end close process.
  • Liaise with subsidiaries, departments and management on accounting and reporting issues.
  • Review corporate and subsidiary reports and packages for accuracy and completeness.
  • Create and maintain all financial reports.

    Consolidation:
  • Integrate and consolidate all subsidiary financial systems on a monthly basis within Great Plains and its reporting system, FrX.
  • Record and journalize necessary monthly consolidating entries, including foreign exchange (FX) gains/losses.
  • Reconcile and analyze differences between UK and US GAAP.

    Intercompany Accounts:
  • Prepare and maintain all intercompany worksheets and reconciliations for financial and taxation purposes.
  • Create monthly invoices between related parties and ensure recording within each LRN entities general ledger.

    Taxation:
  • Prepare quarterly financials reports for external tax advisors for estimated tax payments.
  • Assist in company’s annual transfer pricing study.
  • Journalize transfer pricing entries on a monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis.

    Accounting System:
  • Maintain system reports and company department structures within Great Plains and FRx.
  • Prepare appropriate schedules and reports for auditors to demonstrate proper GL mapping and consolidation.
  • Maintain worldwide standard chart of accounts.

    Other:
  • Serve as a key contact for external consultants, including auditors and valuation teams.
  • Assist Accounting Manager in projects as identified and allocated.
  • Potentially serve as backup to Accounting Manager in operational matters.
  • Participate in M&A transactions, if applicable.
  • Assist with the integration of acquired entities.

    Job qualifications & Professional skills:

    Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science, Business Administration in Accounting required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 4 – 5 years experience in related field. Ideal candidate would have 2 –3 years public accounting experience and 2 –3 years private industry experience.

    Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, written and oral communication skills with all levels within LRN.
  • Capable of effectively handling and prioritizing multiple projects, meet deadlines and consistently produce high quality work.
  • Desire to work as a strong team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience using financial system applications.
  • Great Plains/FRx experience preferred.
