Description Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals,
has an immediate opening for an individual experienced as a BLACK BELT in the Continuous Improvement tool disciplines of Sigma and Lean who also has proven Planning, Warehousing, Distribution and Commercial skills and achievements.

This role will be located at our Allentown, PA world headquarters and will focus on applying the company's Continuous Improvement (CI) model, process and tools to our Planning, Warehousing, Distribution and Commercial processes. The role will require up to 20% travel to our manufacturing and distribution node locations across North America.

The role reports to the Global Manager of Continuous Improvement for the company’s Performance Materials Division (PMD) and is part of a team of CI Black Belts and Organization Champions charged with driving and achieving structured and sustainable Business Improvement in PMD as a source of competitive business advantage.

Specific objective areas will include:
1) Structuring and standardizing how CI is applied to planning, warehousing, distribution and commercial activities
2) Achieving business results with the application of CI with a focus on Six Sigma and Lean
3) Embedding CI within the culture of the work teams
4) Developing and strengthening personal and team Business Improvement skills

Programs and Projects will be aligned and coordinated within the overall Global and Local PMD Business Improvement plans, and their results will be focused in the following areas:
1) optimizing our cost structure and operational performance
2) enabling additional capacity, revenue and margin
3) integrating our critical business work processes
4) developing and leveraging our peoples’ capabilities

Position Qualifications and Requirements:

Qualified candidates must possess proven Lean / Sigma experience in the form of driving change and delivering business results. At least 5 – 10 years of such experience in the Chemicals industry or a related field is preferred, and candidates with proven abilities in applying Lean and Sigma to planning, warehousing, distribution and commercial activities as well as those with supply chain experience and APICS certifications will be given preference. Leadership, communication, teamwork and change management skills and experience are basic requirements. Candidates must have command of the Sigma and Lean tool kits in such a way that they can apply them in a planning, warehousing, distribution and commercial environment to identify opportunities, align teams, plan the approach, execute the improvements, deliver and measure business results and share the learnings. Other necessary skills and talents include the abilities to mentor and teach, manage projects, analyze data, influence people and drive change as well as a bent for taking action and producing results.
