Position Description
POSITION:
Field Accounting Analyst
DEPARTMENT:

REPORTS TO:
Area Controller
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Area Controller, the Field Accounting Analysts works as a consultant on behalf of Administrator to:
i) Assist in the recruitment of new office staff
ii) Train and assess the skills sets of all office personnel, including the Business Office Manager
iii) Assist with situations of backlog within the accounting office which may involve performing accounting clean-up activities or re-organization of office duties and routines within the business office, or resolution of difficult accounts receivable or billing situations
iv) Closely monitor the accounts receivable and cash collections of the facility to ensure that all accounts are being actively worked and balances maintained accurately
v) Assess the internal controls within the facility and make recommendations to the Administrator and Area Controller as to changes
vi) Perform field audits on a regular basis to ensure that:
a) Business office personnel are adhering to the Accounting Manual and Procedures
b) Identify training and the works extensively with Business Office staff,
c) Assess the skills sets of the Business office manager and related staff
Responsible for monitoring of the entire business office function for facilities in a designated region. Primary emphasis is on accounts receivable billing and collections, however a solid knowledge of payroll processing and accounts payable processing is important.

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor�s Degree with a major in Business or Accounting is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three years relevant experience. Experience with accounts receivable in a skilled nursing
Facility for a minimum of 3 years.
Experience as a Business Office Manager within a
Nursing home environment for a minimum of 3 years.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to train effective and assess skills sets of staff.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Participate in Business Office Manager�s recruitment and hiring decisions.
2. Provide training to Business Office Managers in all areas of their job responsibilities. This includes increased focus during the first 90 days of their employment.
3. Trains Business office personnel on all aspects of the accounting systems which includes: Payroll and Benefits, Accounts Payable, MDS/Billing and Accounts Receivable
4. Provide onsite technical support and serve as a resource for Business Office Manager in all areas of the business office function.
5. Monitoring all accounts receivable functions for facilities in a designated region, through assisting and consulting with facility Business office staff, Administrator and Regional management.
6. Participates in reconciling, billing, rebilling and assisting in the overall �clean-up� of accounts receivable for all payer sources.
7. May assume, but for a limited period of time, some or all of the Business Office Manager�s responsibilities during the absence of a Business Office Manager or until a fulltime replacement is hired and trained.
8. Assess, through periodic audits, the business office functions and provide observations and recommendations for improvement.
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Through coordination with the Area Controller, establish priorities and monthly work plans including obtainable goals and objectives. Each monthly work plan should include a summary on achievement of the prior month�s goals and objectives.
2. Contact facilities/Administrator prior to a visit to discuss objectives of the visit.
3. Ongoing communications with the Area Controller, Administrators, RDO�s, and AVP regarding significant issues.
4. Other related duties as assigned.
