The Med/Peds/Oncology RN will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.  The tasks and responsibilities include:

• Prioritizes patient care based on acuity level and available resources
• Carries out physician orders
• Assess, plan and evaluate patient care needs including obtaining patient history and assessing for risk factors
• Manage the patient's pain
• Assists physician during examination, treatment and procedures
• Administers prescribed medications and monitors vital signs
• Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
• Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems
• Instructs and educates patients and their families
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team
• Provides age- and culturally-appropriate care as defined by Erickson's developmental tasks
• Orients and mentors new staff members
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• Serves as a role model for excellence in patient care, customer service and quality improvement
• Continually creates and maintains a positive environment and facilitates team building and problem resolution

 Required job qualifications include:

• Current Florida RN licensure
• 1 year of experience as an RN highly preferred
• Current certification in BLS, ACLS and PALS
• Oncology Chemo/Bio Therapy certified or OCN within 6 months of hire
• OCN certification and BSN highly preferred
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• Resourceful problem solver, dedicated to continous improvement
• Proficient computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software applications
• Customer service abilities including effective listening and communication skills
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
• Motivated team player with a positive attitude and  readiness to contribute as needed
