Plant Purchasing Agent

The Plant Purchasing Agent manages and oversees the purchasing function and storeroom operations and personnel; including: receiving and inventory of raw materials, maintenance materials, supplies and capital spares. They may also be asked to participate on centralized teams or special projects at the facility or corporate level. This individual works in a plant team environment with a high sense of urgency and must possess the ability to solve problems that cross disciplines. The Plant Purchasing Agent works with little supervision focusing on the needs of the local plant customers.

Responsibilities include:

Purchasing and negotiating equipment, materials, services, and supplies from external vendors. Working with requestors to understand requirements; including: specifications, services, performance and timing.
Educating and ensuring appropriate use of national, regional and local contract agreements within the facility.
Analyzing vendor bid packages to ensure compliance with requirements and assist requestor in determining total cost of ownership.
Ensures compliance to all safety, purchasing, stores, and environmental policies and procedures.
Control of working capital / on hand inventory valuations.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor�s degree in Supply Chain or Finance required
Minimum of three (3) years purchasing experience required

Preferred Qualifications:
CPM / CPSM certification��
5 years purchasing experience
Supervisory experience

Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of purchasing procedures, common industrial terminology and common business software. Knowledge of storeroom and inventory management. Experience with computer-based maintenance software a plus.
