Job Description for Director of Academic Affairs The Director of Academic Affairs is the Chief Academic Officer for the campus and reports directly to the Campus President. The Director of Academic Affairs oversees all academic administration, staff, and faculty and is ultimately responsible for sustainable continuous improvement in the quality of teaching and learning at the campus.Key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Provide leadership for the campus academic affairs team and management of the academic affairs department budget including overall schedule of course offerings, hiring of department staff, and faculty assignments.
  • Oversee and support the retention efforts of the campus including oversight and responsibility for the campus student services department.
  • Plan and coordinate campus professional development and in-services for faculty and academic affairs department staff.
  • Ensure campus compliance with all internal academic policies and procedures and all applicable accrediting standards, state licensing requirements, FERPA, and all other applicable external rules and regulations.
  • Academic liaison with The College’s Central Administrative Office academic affairs department and Campus President. The following is required to successfully fulfill the function of this position:
  • Masters degree required
  • At least three (3) years experience in an academic management position at the level of department/division chair (program director), associate dean (associate director) or dean (director) required.
  • Teaching experience in higher education preferred.
  • Strong student-centered focus; commitment to student satisfaction and success.
  • Availability to work late afternoon and evening hours (e.g. 2:00 to 10:00 p.m.) as required in meeting responsibilities.
