Job summary
This position is responsible for developing and executing overall merchandise marketing strategy (Promotional Calendar and Execution) with the objective of growing traffic, increased conversion rates, increasing user engagement and driving usage of site features and product sales across brands.

The Merchandise Marketing Director is a leader in developing the integration between Online Marketing, Design, and Merchandising teams. His/her goal is to develop and drive business strategies that maximize market trends and seasonality to deliver above-target sales and net margin growth. Additionally, the Merchandise Marketing Director will oversee all Channel Marketing, inclusive of Paid Search, Affiliate, Behavioral Retargeting, etc.

He/She is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of this category team. He/She is also expected to develop a sustainable strategy for long-term growth and online market share increase, while supporting broader initiatives to protect/grow/add market share for all brands.

The Merchandise Marketing Director's focus should be on delivering against P&L goals and forward-looking strategy, developing his/her team members, developing strong relationships with suppliers, and collaborating internally with cross-functional teams to drive results.

Summary of essential job functions

1. Directly Responsible for execution of promotion calendar while also overseeing the following direct reports & departments/organizations
a. Content Merchandisers/Merchandise Copywriting
b. eMail Marketing
c. eVisual Merchandising
d. Channel Marketing
2. Collaborates with GMM, Merchandise Planner, Buyer/Brand Managers and Brand Contacts in organizing promotional activities and timing of deliveries
a. Also works closely with the above departments in reviewing sales plans, weekly sales results and Gross Margin performance, tying marketing to support and drive the plan
3. Plans, directs, and coordinates the marketing of merchandise through one or more web sites
4. Works closely with graphic artists, copywriters, and Web developers in the design and usability of the Web site
5. Plans and oversees the organization's merchandise marketing and promotion activities specifically linked to its web presence, such as landing pages, micro sites and sweepstakes
6. Oversees the monthly marketing spend and strategy as it relates to all Channel Marketing
7. Evaluates market reactions to merchandising strategy
8. Conducts marketing surveys
9. Establishes research method, such as survey, opinion poll, or questionnaire, and designs means for collecting data for each project
10. Coordinates the creation and production of sales, marketing, and packaging material
11. Oversees and directs quarterly to mid-year business reviews with brands, detailing successes, challenges and the overall business.
