We are currently recruiting for an Senior Accountant for our Accounting Department.
Job Summary
This position, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, is responsible for the assigned internal financial information for the North American Organization. This includes the accurate and complete input of all transactions into the general ledger, becoming proficient with the general ledger system and subsystems (specifically A/P, A/R, and SafeKeeper Plus), running reports to research financial activity, preparing balance sheet account reconciliation’s, assisting in the month-end close for designated North American Markets, developing sound understanding of accounting cycles and related process/system flows, performing financial analysis of P&L’s for designated markets, and following-up with field personnel for explanations to P&L activity. Also, includes handling of multiple tasks and shifting focus when required, while taking a proactive role in problem identification and resolution and process enhancements. This is a salaried, exempt position.
Essential Functions
35% Perform the month end close for assigned North American markets while following and enforcing accounting policies and processes.
30% Perform a written financial analysis of the P&L for assigned markets and provide support to the field, specifically as it relates to researching and providing explanations for variances from prior periods and budget.
20% Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis, including preparing the accompanying supporting schedules and required adjusting journal entries.
10% Provide field support on accounting issues and in turn learning the business of the markets in your responsibility.
5% Perform other duties and special projects directed by management.
Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
This position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills. Accuracy and attention to details are critical. The candidate must be able to set priorities and have the ability to meet numerous different deadlines from multiple sources. Extensive use of computer applications, especially Excel and accounting systems (Oracle, Discoverer, OFA, Web reporting) is required.

Business Expertise: The candidate for this position should have a general knowledge of Iron Mountain and what services the company provides, especially in the North American Organization. This would include services such as Records Management/Data Protection Storage and Shredding and the overall daily operations performed in the field.
Leadership:This position will have no direct reports nor will they be responsible for leading others. Professionalism, tact and a proactive nature are required as well as the confidence to make tough decisions to carry out policies and procedures for the better of the department/company.Problem Solving:
Problem Solving can range from routine accounting issues to complex ones that arise from various sources such as internal (field) and external customers (auditors). The ability to gather, interpret and make sound decisions based on that information is required.
Nature of Impact: This position requires review of financial data to ensure it compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Sarbanes Oxley.
Area of Impact:This position impacts the Accounting Department within the Shared Service Organization which is part of the North American Organization.

Interpersonal Skills: Skills would include but are not limited to proactive nature, flexibility, self starter, team player, willing to work hard and go the extra mile.
