Overview:
The Global Application Tooling Division (GATD) of Tyco Electronics is currently seeking a TEOA Lean Practitioner to join our team. GATD is a worldwide engineering and manufacturing business unit that designs and manufactures application equipment, associated tooling and precision machined products for all markets.
TEOA (Tyco Electronics Operating Advantage) is a company-wide program aimed at improving our business performance by applying best practice improvement tools such as Lean and Six Sigma to become more efficient and effective so that we can be more productive, satisfy our customers and deliver more value to our shareholders.
The TEOA Lean Practitioner will be responsible for rolling out the TEOA program in the Business Unit Operations. He/she will work with plant management to install TEOA tools and drive performance improvement. He/she will act as the subject matter expert for the TEOA tools.
This is a Leadership position and will require that the candidate have strong organisational, communication, and project management skills.
The TEOA Lean Practitioner will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager but will also take guidance from the Operations Director and Plant Manager.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Coordinate with plant management and TEOA deployment team to development the site-level Current State VSM, Future State VSM and TEOA deployment plan based on TEOA Site Assessment, in order to achieve the plant performance objectives (Star levels);
- Work with plant management to set priorities, identify resources and implement the deployment plan
- Perform monthly audits of the TEOA tool implementation and metrics, reporting results using the global TEOA Assessment Tool
- Hold monthly review meetings with plant management and GATD Operations management to review the committed deliverables and adjust the TEOA deployment plan if needed.
- Track improvement projects and follow up with local management as planned to drive continuous improvement.
- Increase knowledge of all level employees by determining training needs and organizing training of problem solving techniques and TEOA tools.
- Share Successfully Demonstrated Practices (SDP's) with Tyco Electronics Community.
- Lead improvement projects.
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS in relevant field or equivalent experience
- 7 to 10 years of professional experience in production or manufacturing engineering with focus on cost savings and continuous improvements
- At least 2 years experience in leading continuous improvement activities on site level (Lean Leader or similar function).
- Extensive hands-on and practical experience in using value stream mapping and other TEOA tools such as 5S+1, Visual Factory, Standard Work, Quick Changeover and TPM.
- Have the patience, perseverance and passion to drive the TEOA culture across the plant.
- Credibility and experience to work effectively and directly with the senior on-site leadership team
- Excellent communication and coaching skills with all level employees, from shop floor to top management
- Ability to think strategically, execute and deliver results
- Strong project management skills
- Analytically minded and data-driven. The candidate must also have a holistic overview of complex situations and deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise.
- Six sigma Green Belt or higher degree is a plus.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
