Description Pay Scale:  Please contact Human Resources at 541-677-2475 for salary information. Job Summary:  Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the functioning of the Pharmacy Department including processes, clinical programs, regulatory compliance, staffing and policies. The Pharmacy Manager assumes the duties of the Director in the Director's absence. This position also facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies. This position also performs the duty of a Staff Pharmacist when necessary. Essential Duties:
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity and documentation of the scheduled medication supplies in the hospital.
  • Shares responsibility with Director to ensure the Department and Hospital is compliant with all regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Prepares staffing schedules and approves staff requests for vacations.
  • Supervises and performs evaluations on all subordinate Pharmacy employees.
  • Coordinates Students, interns and Volunteers for the Pharmacy Department.
  • In conjunction with the Director and the IT Technician, coordinates IT systems (Pyxis, Meditech, etc.) planning, maintenance and repair.
  • Represents the Pharmacy Department on committees as required.
  • Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Performs the duties of a Staff Pharmacist as needed.
  • Manages the Clinical Intervention program and ensures documentation is performed thoroughly and accurately.
  • Develops and implements clinical programs for the Pharmacy and for Mercy.
  • Serves as a Pharmacy teaching and reference agent for staff, medical staff and community members.
  • Evaluates medications for the formulary and P&T review.
  • Develops or participates in developing clinical policies and procedures
  • Investigates and responds to complicated drug information questions that cannot be answered by staff pharmacists.
  • Participates in the care of complex patients and treatment protocols outside of the norm for Mercy.
Requirements Education
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Pharmacy. 
Experience:
  • Two years acute care hospital experience is required. 
  • Two years management experience required; however, willing to train candidate with right background and aptitude. 
  • Needs strong leadership and administrative/computer skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to interface with clinical personnel, physicians, medical staff and the ability to interact well with the public.    
License/Certification: 
  • Licensure as Registered Pharmacist by Oregon State Board of Pharmacy.
