Description About Our Facility
HealthSouth Hospital of Houston is a 79 bed Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH). We specialize in Ventilator patients, Cardiac patients, and Wound Care patients. The facility offers both Inpatient and Outpatient Therapy in OT/PT/ & SLP. This hospital is 20 minutes north of downtown Houston with easy access from any direction.

Requirements Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician performs technical support functions in the department under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

License or Certification:

  • Certification and Registration as a Pharmacy Technician as required by the state.

    Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:

  • Experience in a pharmacy preferred.

  • General medical terminology is preferred.

    Machines, Equipment Used:

  • General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Good visual acuity and ability to communicate

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and retrieve approximately 10 percent of the time.

  • Ability to safely lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

  • Ability to demonstrate safe retrieval skills from above head to floor level with objects up to ten pounds.

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Must work efficiently under broad guidelines established by the state.

  • Must understand the limitations of his/her drug knowledge.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both personally and professionally.

  • Possess the ability to handle information in a confidential manner.

  • Must maintain high degree of accuracy.

  • Must speak, read, write and comprehend English.

  • Must be able to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner

  • Must communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.

  • Must be able to work independently without supervision.

    Environmental Conditions:

  • Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure

  • Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.

  • Handicapped accessibility.

  • May work under stressful circumstances at times.

    Proficiency or Productivity Standards:

  • May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.

  • May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.

  • Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster.

  • May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.

  • Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.
