Supervisor, Accounting

Description The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Supervisor, Operations Accounting for our Corporate Operations Accounting Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.Our group, Corporate Consolidated Accounting and Reporting, is primarily responsible for finalizing the financial statements (GL close and financial statement preparation) for monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, investment accounting, minority interest accounting, equity accounting and analysis, restructuring accounting and analysis, balance sheet analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis, coordinating assistance with our external auditors, coordinating our corporate finance department SOX compliance, coordination and preparation of our quarterly reporting package, assisting with acquisitions and dispositions and special projects directed by senior management.Specifically in this role as a Supervisor the essential job functions of this position are as follows:(1) Review and assist in completion of monthly account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries(2) Review of quarterly SEC filings and quarterly reporting schedules(3) Preparation and review of adhoc financial reporting requests, other analysis and special projects as requested by management(4) Review of monthly accounting for investments and associated analysis(5) Review and assist with copyright and FCC filings(6) Review and assist with consolidation accounting and legal entity projectsJob Requirements:- Bachelors Degree in Accounting- More than 5 years of accounting experience- Strong knowledge of GAAP- Intermediate PC skills particularly in the use of Excel is required. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under stressful conditions- Coordinate the completion of multiple tasks simultaneously- Must be able to work flexible hours, including hours beyond the normal work week when required- Must be able to pay close attention to detail and understand oral and written instructions- Ability to work in a team environment- Ability to analyze transactions, determine proper accounting, understand fluctuations and what is driving them and ability to understand our business transactions and comprehend how we account for those transactions- Positive attitude dedicated towards achieving results for the 'team' as well as providing quality service and accuracyPreferred Qualifications: - CPA and/or MBA with Public Accounting experience. - PeopleSoft accounting software experience. - Supervisory experience, capability of assuming a leadership role in attaining department goals.The physical demands described here are those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
