Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Department: Mechanical Engineering

NOTE: Only Candidates with LED Lighting, Lighting, SSL and outdoor Luminaire background will be considered at this time. Candidates with background in roadway lighting, signal lighting, lamp post lighting highly preferred.

Summary

Development, design and documentation of LED Lighting components and systems.

Mechanical Design - Design, develops and documents all mechanical aspects of lighting products and projects.

Injection molding, machining, stamping, extrusions, prototyping, documentation, and design for manufacturability

Qualifications

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, frequency distribution, and proportions to practical situations. Exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

3D CAD modeling/drafting skills that enable efficient product development, strong Spreadsheet skills

Other Skills and Abilities

LED fixture, or lighting fixture design

FEA Simulation: Structure, thermal, CFD

Multi tasking, scheduling, and project management.

Architectural drafting or building experience.

Machining (mill or lathe), or other fabrication experience.

Generating mechanical assembly instructions.

Optical design, modeling or simulation.

Thermal measurement/experimentation

Solidworks or Pro/e required
