What General Accounting contributes to Cardinal Health

General Accounting is responsible for maintaining the financial books and records and preparing financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.

  • Reviews financial reporting within own area to assess accuracy.

  • Applies accounting knowledge and policies to properly state account balances requiring judgment or estimation

Accountabilities in this role

This department provides accounting and finance support to the Sales and Marketing teams of the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain (PSC) business unit of the Healthcare Supply Chain Services segment of Cardinal Health (HSCS).
 
The Sales Accounting advisor is primarily responsible for customer payouts and accruals per contractual agreements for the Retail Independent and Alternate Care National Accounts. This position also provides financial support to Cardinal's Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting groups through its normal functions. Lastly, this position will support various reporting needs for the Retail Independent Sales and Alternate Care Sales groups as well as PSC FP&A teams on an ad hoc basis.
 
  • Calculate, document and prepare accruals and corresponding check requests for the Retail Independent and Alternate Care National Accounts customer payouts on a timely basis.
  • Review customer contracts prior to implementation and make recommendations to Management to modify contractual language; prepare Contract Rollouts.
  • Develop strong working relationship with Sales management teams.
  • Provide financial support to Cardinal's Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting groups through normal daily and monthly tasks.
  • Provide customers with accurate documentation and analysis to support payout calculations.
  • Ensure the integrity of all reporting through review and analysis.

Qualifications
 
  • Minimum 3 yrs experience
  • Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Sound working knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a team.
  • Experience with SAP (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Microstrategies Sales Data Warehouse (preferred)..
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) processes (preferred).
  • BA in accounting or finance or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred
