We currently have an opening for a Business Development Manager to join our Government Risks Team in Blue Bell, PA. This position is responsible for generating and developing government risk new business within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities:
Maximizes opportunities for profitable new business and retention by leveraging business relationships, product knowledge and underwriting acumen.
Maximizes profitability of territory through superior agency management, development and planning. Leads rigorous agency review process, establishes strong business partnerships with OneBeacon underwriters, claims and loss control staff. Strengthens the distribution system through agency and public entity prospecting, activates new appointments and revitalizes existing agencies consistent with territorial strategy. Terminates agency contracts when warranted.
Anticipates the needs of the industry, analyzes trends, and implements proactive strategies that best position OneBeacon. Maximizes opportunities through and industry associations and regional meetings. Communicates the underwriting appetite and generates qualified business opportunities for underwriters. Develops a highly disciplined approach to gathering territorial data and a high quality territorial profile.
Demonstrates expertise of underwriting guidelines and maintains a broad knowledge of OneBeacon’s operations and products.

Requirements:
Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including current Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and applicable applications and programs. Must have the ability to diagnose, analyze and solve problems.
Must be able to work independently and as a team.
Education:
Bachelors degree required.
5-10 years of experience.
Public entity industry experience is desirable including experience with public entity pools or insurance companies
CPCU preferred.
