  • Participates in the analysis of software requirements.
  • Designs simple software features and participates in the design of more complex features.
  • Documents design specifications.
  • Participates in design reviews.
  • Participates in peer reviews and code inspections.
  • Performs and reports on debugging and unit testing of software features and products.
  • Participates in the integration of software features on target hardware platforms.
  • Interfaces with electrical, firmware, and other engineers to ensure software/hardware compatibility.
  • Participates in the verification and validation of software products, including execution of test protocols.
  • Occasionally assists technical support in troubleshooting systems in the field.
  • Writes product documentation.
  • Provides inputs into development estimates regarding own deliverables.
  • Tracks own project progress and reports status and issues to R&D manager.
  • Remains up-to-date on latest software development technologies and methodologies.
  • Participates in continuous process improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by R&D manager.

  • Experience with the development of Web sites, applications, and services using technologies such as DHTML, Javascript, Java
    Applets, Macromedia Flash, CSS, and XML
  • Understanding of database servers and applications technologies based on Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and Sybase SQL including
    ODBC or JDBC
  • Programming knowledge on operating systems including Microsoft Windows XP, Unix, and Linux
  • Expert knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design methodologies including the Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of
    engineering/technical specialization
  • Proven ability to write clear technical documentation

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
