Description Designer Job

A leading Power Engineering Firm in San Ramon, California has an immediate need for a senior High Voltage � 69 kV to 500 kV - Substation Designer. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Using AutoCAD, design new and modified high voltage substations and switching, developing specifications for equipment, and preparing bid packages including construction drawings
  • Do physical layouts, equipment clearances, general arrangements, section details, etc
  • Direct other more junior designers, schedule workloads, set priorities as needed

Requirements

  • 5 or more years experience in High Voltage - 69 kV to 500 kV - substation construction, upgrades, and designs, working for a United States electric utility company and/or an United States EPC firm
  • HV substation (outdoor) physical / outdoor equipment (Transformers, Breakers, Steel structures, insulators, bus, connectors, HV PT/CT, etc., etc) layout experience
  • Expert AutoCAD skills
  • Knowledge of NESC codes for equipment including phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground clearances, for different voltages
  • MicroStation skills are a plus
