Description SMARTSOURCE IS LOOKING FOR A System Engineer LEVEL III

Job Title: System Engineer III

Reports To: Professional Services Management
Start date: October 30, 2009
Pay rate: Paying between $85K-$100K for Full time with Benefits!
Hours:
Location: Auburn, WA 98001

Mission of Position:
The primary focus of this position is to provide integration, design and engineering services for the customers.

Maintain designated certifications that apply to each area of focus and maintain core competencies in the following areas:

LAN Infrastructure

  • IBM Hardware & software
  • xSeries servers and bladecenter
  • Clustering
  • IBM Director
  • IBM Storage (Fiber & iSCSI)
  • HP Datacenter Hardware & Software
  • HP Servers
  • Clustering
  • MASE for HP SAN (a current certification is required)
  • Openview
  • Microsoft
  • MCSE (current)
  • Exchange (current)
  • HyperV
  • SQL
  • Clustering
  • SharePoint
  • VB scripting
  • VMWare
  • ESX
  • View
  • Capacity Planner
  • Related components

    Results to be Achieved:
    1. Provide engineering services to customers around platforms identified above
    2. Exceed customer’s expectations of the quality and thoroughness for each designed or implemented solution
    3. Work closely with manufacturers to grow relationships and maintain certifications
    4. Through pre and post technical efforts maintain a 70% billable work queue
    5. During non-billable periods assist sales with pre-sales technical efforts and customer growth

    Strategies (no more than 5)
  • Provide cross training to specific existing engineers growing ZPS competencies
  • Identify existing service opportunities in focus area (pSeries, VMWare & Linux) within existing customers

    Process
    1. Grow the company through product focus areas:
    a. Work with Sales force to identify existing or potential customers
    b. Develop strong relationships with IBM pSeries team & VMWare staff to obtain qualified leads
    c. Assist in the company marketing to capture appropriate markets and communicate service solutions
    d. Develop sales questionnaire assisting the sales team with asking the right qualifying questions

    2. Deliver IBM and HP datacenter solutions growing both the product and services business:
    a. Pre-Site Review
    b. Discovery and planning sessions
    c. Engineering efforts
    d. Installation and integration efforts
  • AIX networking, high availability and clustering
  • AIX System Administration
  • LPAR configurations
  • HP SAN Master ASE
  • HP Servers (Windows and Unix based)
    e. Network Documentation
    f. Ongoing maintenance programs

    3. Deliver VMWare solutions growing both the product and services business:
    a. Server consolidation
    b. Discovery and planning sessions
    c. Engineering efforts
    d. Installation and integration efforts
  • Converting Physical to Virtual
  • Enabling business continuity through VMotion
    e. Network Documentation

    4. Deliver Linux solutions:
    g. Red Hat or Suse
    h. Discovery and planning sessions
  • Integration of new Linux platforms
    i. Engineering efforts
    j. Installation and integration efforts around Linux:
  • Database solutions
  • Mail platforms
  • Clustering services
    k. Network Documentation
    a. Ongoing maintenance programs

    Minimum Qualifications
  • Master SAN Architect - Technical Certifications
  • 7-10 Year Microsoft delivering Enterprise solutions
  • VMWare ESX experience (ESX certification preferred)
  • Linux enterprise certifications a plus
  • Experience using VMWare P2V & VMotion tools
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Good project management skills and use of MS Project
  • 5 years experience in enterprise backup solutions
  • Knowledge of IBM Tivoli, HP OpenView or related network management tools preferred

    Activity Metrics
  • Maintain 70+% billable utilization
  • Maintain and secure certifications in focus areas with each manufacturer (renew appropriately)
  • Deliver accurate design solutions 100% of the time
  • Track all efforts in ZPS TimeTracker application (billable, expenses, utilization, etc)
  • Maintain 100% of customers profile in Outlook database
