Requirements EDUCATION:
1. Required High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Requires current enrollment in an accredited program for respiratory care and satisfactory completion of the first clinical rotation. (A letter from the school to acknowledge this is required.)

EXPERIENCE: Requires a minimum of one year experience in respiratory therapy, either through school, clinical activities or job exposure. (Ex. Equipment tech).

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Requires current CPR Certification.

EQUIPMENT/SKILLS:
1. Requires a level of skill in Respiratory Therapy techniques.
2. Requires good interpersonal relationship skills in dealing with patients, families, Physicians and co-workers.
3. Requires knowledge of the mechanics of all major items of equipment used in respiratory care.
4. Requires attention to detail and extreme accuracy.
5. Requires flexibility and a willingness to change priorities as dictated by immediate Supervisor.
6. Must demonstrate tactful and effective assertiveness when working with Physicians and nursing personnel.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Works in modern surroundings.
2. Must adjust to frequently changing workload, some confusion and tension. Subject to frequent interruptions.
3. Constant walking and standing for long periods of time; requires physical stamina to life patients and heavy equipment.
4. Constant exposure to infectious occupational diseases and medical gases and some sterilizing chemicals.
5. Requires good motor skills and the necessary coordination and dexterity to operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment.
6. Requires quick response in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest.

OTHER: Must successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination and the annual screening thereafter as an Associate.
