RN Assistant Nursing Unit Supervisor - MEDICAL

Our Medical Acute department is a very busy 37-bed med-surg unit. We care for all Med-Surg patients including those with Respiratory Diseases, Diabetics, Renal Failure, Cardiovascular Disease. The majority of patients on our unit are the vulnerable and frail elderly. Currently we have the capacity to do tele monitoring on 16 patients. Staff is provided with frequent educational experiences, which enables them to give all patients on the unit the best quality of care. Classes include telemetry certification, Pain Management, and many others. In addition many of our staff was recently educated on the four components of the ¡°Nursing Bundle¡° which included Hourly Rounding on all assigned patients, Bedside Report, Individualized Care and Discharge Phone Calls. Implementation of these measures not only decreased our patient falls but also has significantly increased patient satisfaction. It has also enhanced the collaboration, teamwork, and the feeling of pride among unit staff. RNs, and CNAs work on the unit and provide care for a group of patients in compliance with the RN patient ratio law. Our unit collaborates with all other disciplines, particularly: Respiratory Therapy, Rehab Services, Case Management, Chaplaincy, and Social Services. Additionally, our nurses receive special support from Clinical Specialists, our Palliative Care Nurses, and decentralized Pharmacists.

This position will work closely with the Manager of the Medical/Neurology Unit. Position will be divided to include 80% clinical and 20% management duties such as: ensuring patient satisfaction, shift to shift operations regarding staffing; quality audits;
coordinating orientation and mentoring of new staff.

Qualifications include: California RN license, current CPR certification. Recent or current Med/Surg experience required. Recent or current leadership/managerial experience preferred. Telemetry certification preferred.
