Engineering Technician

Currently we are seeking individuals for the following position: Engineering Technician

DR-SOC provides remote monitoring of customers energy usage. DR-SOC also provides remote monitoring and control of generators. Data concerning energy usage and generator health is provided to customers via the Internet.

Specific tasks for Engineering Technician:
Test new field hardware & software
Manage SOC box testing & documentation
Work on special projects (DOE ; GridApps)
Install and maintain energy monitoring installations w/ proper documentation
Install and maintain generator monitoring installations w/ proper documentation
Troubleshoot highly technical problems with SOC equipment
Work with customers on IT network and Internet issues
Review all monitoring sites daily
Send SOC dispatch commands
Maintain SOC Operator Logs
Maintain Site Repair Logs
Monitor sites for trends
Review data for shutdown indicators and causes (trends)
Work with service personnel on generator troubles
Respond to alarms
Monitor database back-up operations
Perform upgrades to server operating systems

Requirements  Required Skills for Engineering Technician:
Expert knowledge of various industrial & SCADA protocols Lonworks, Modbus, DNP
Working knowledge of electrical power equipment
Expert knowledge of TCP/IP based communications
Expert knowledge of wireless communications (GSM, CDMA)
Good customer presentation skills
Expert knowledge of generator operations and controls
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Server operating systems
Working knowledge of database backup applications
Working knowledge of MS SQL
Expert electrician skills (Install conduit, pull cable, terminations, etc.)
