Position Title: Project Engineer
Reports to: Project Manager

Division: Hawaii PPV

Position Description:
Responsible for engineering and technical requirements for field activities, processing and managing technical documents, such as the drawings and specifications

Scope:
This position reports to the sr. project manager or project manager. It is not a supervisory position, but it requires interaction with all construction staff members, including the safety administrator, field manager, scheduler, and cost estimator.

Financial Responsibilities:
This position does not entail direct financial responsibility on the project, except for research on the most cost effective construction methodology whenever required. The project engineer works with the field manager in verifying time and material extra work orders issued by the contractors.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assist in reviewing and processing of RFI�s between contractors and design consultants and transmitting responses to all affected parties

2. Process submittals between contractors and designers, including establishing and maintaining submittal log in Expedition or other project management control system.

3. Participate with designers in the resolution of design issues and conflicts and coordinates design resolution with the contractors in a timely manner to avoid impact to the construction progress, quality, constructability

4. Maintain updated drawings and specifications and ensure all parties, including HMC staff and contractors, are constructing to updated contract documents

5. Review and summarize drawings and specification revisions and establish protocol for the issuance of delta drawings and provide appropriate information to the respective SPM�s and PM�s.

6. Monitor and ensure that all contractors are maintaining as built drawings

7. Assist Field managers and 3rd Party Inspectors with quality control duties as needed for site activities

8. In conjunction with SPMs� and PM�s, verify percent completion for monthly pay applications and verify inventory of stored materials being billed. Monitor contractors in maintaining material status records to ensure timely delivery of materials.

9. As directed by the SPM or PM, verify quantities for time and material work submitted by the contractors

10. In conjunction with Field Managers, develop and maintain maps, spread sheets, check lists, photographs and other documents that accurately address conditions at the site and record construction progress

11. Maintain logs in Expedition(Requests for Information, Submittals, drawings, etc.)

12. As directed by the SPM or PM, prepare and issue minutes for the weekly coordination meeting with the contractors

Education:
4 year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical and hands on field supervisory experience in the construction industry.

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of construction experience in field engineering and project administration and document control. Good communicative, interpersonal and supervisory skills required as well as computer skills.
