Report Writer

Description The report writer is a key member of Application Development's Information Delivery team responsible for the creation, documentation, delivery and support of company-wide standard and ad-hoc reports from the company's reporting databases. 

 

The Report Writer will provide estimates for work to be performed and work within agreed upon timeframes, giving timely feedback on milestones and variances.  Work closely with end-users to gather requirements and ensure proper testing and validation data and data elements.  Develop queries and reports using Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server databases and associated tools.  Develop test plans and specific tests of functionality for projects with appropriate change control.  Perform data modeling, using best practices for normalization under different conditions (active application vs. data warehouse).  Design logic for data exchange interfaces, data transformations, and stored procedures.  The report writer will also provide end-user training on report writing software and support users in simple ad-hoc report creation when need.

 

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in MIS, computer science or a closely related field and 3 years progressively responsible professional work experience in an area closely related to this position, or a combination of education and closely related, progressively more responsible professional work experience in an area closely related to this position totaling 7 years.
• At least two year of programming and/or report generation with report writing tools such as Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Oracle Discoverer, etc.
• At least two years experience with Data Transformation Services to perform data transformation/exchange.
• At least two years experience with SQL Syntax and the use of SQL in stored procedures using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience in a relational database client server environment.
• Experience writing report specifications and working with users to clarify provided specifications.
