The position of Project Manager was created to support and bring project management skills to oversee and coordinate several major Federally funded research projects at Purdue University Calumet. The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget to insure the contractual obligations and specifications of the project proposal and statement of work are fulfilled. To these ends, the Project Manager is responsible for looking after every detail of the project and coordinating teams of technical managers and experts required for the effective completion of the project.
Requirements Required:
• Bachelor's degree
• Three years direct work experience in project management, including all aspects of process development and execution
• Must have experience managing and maintaining project inventory, prioritizing and categorization of tasks, and identifying costs and risks in a fast moving environment
• Must have demonstrated people and risk management experience
• Must have proficient skills with project management tools and techniques including computer based project management software such as MSProject, Time Activity Planning System, Primavera, or similar program
• Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Must be able to identify priorities within multiple assignments in a high-pressured, short-deadline environment, and be able to work with diplomacy and efficiency in such an environment
• Must conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through sound analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Must be able to demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to work well with all levels of employees, be flexible in nature, have sound judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization
• Must have the ability to bring projects to successful completion through political sensitivity.

Preferred:
• Master's Degree
• Experience working with higher education projects and/or government funded projects
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
