Description The Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois is seeking a full-time, 40-hour per week, Bilingual Advocate. This position is responsible for providing services to victims of domestic violence and their children including individual and group counseling, advocacy, information, referrals and support. Position is also responsible for representing the agency at related community events/meetings and assisting with outreach.

The Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois is also seeking a part-time, 20-hour per week, Bilingual Police Advocate. This position is responsible for providing services to victims of domestic violence and their children including support, advocacy, information and referrals and other services designed to enhance the safety of victims. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting police officers who respond to domestic violence victims by providing support and information, as well as supporting and enhancing the efforts of the police department.
Position is also responsible for representing the agency at related community events/meetings and assisting with outreach.

Positions work throughout St. Clair, Monroe and Randolph counties, but is based in our East St. Louis office. Positions require some flexibility in day/time requirements to meet the demands of the position, including occasional evening/weekend hours required.
Starting salary: $12-$14 per hour.
Requirements Bilingual English/Spanish with the ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently required. BA/BS plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience also required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, counseling/advocacy training and experience, ability to work with diverse populations, ability to work independently and demonstrated commitment to ending violence against women required.
