Market Development & Detention Specilaist Representative

Description PITT OHIO EXPRESS, a $260 million, high service, highly profitable Mid-Atlantic LTL carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Market Development & Detention Specialist Representative (Entry Level) in our Inside Sales department at our corporate headquarters in the Strip District of Pittsburgh, PA.

Responsibilities include:

Market Development Duties(50% of work day):

Lead Generation
�Calling potential and or current customers for PITT OHIO EXPRESS to qualify them for potential business or grow existing business.

Administrative
�Entering information from the calls of sales lead generation into a database and assigning the lead into a proper category for follow up
�Sending the actual lead information to the appropriate source, which would include field sales representative, National account representative, or inside sales representative
�Tracking the follow up of sales representative, marketing department, as well as own follow up.

Managing of Customers
�Ensure initial follow up occurs with those customers in which a sales lead was generated in the allotted time period.

Reports�Run reports to gain information needed to track and maintain these new leads

Detention Specialist Duties (50% of work day):

Reports
�Run detention report to review the duration of time it took to deliver a shipment(s) on a driver�s delivery manifests.

Administrative
�Calculate the total weight of shipments on each manifest to determine allotment of free time.
�Calculate detention charges for each shipment which exceeds free time based on weight.
�Review customer contract and detention database to determine if detention can be assessed on shipment.
�Contact partner/agent carriers for authorization on dollar amount that can be charged for detention on prepaid freight charges.

Date Entry
�Enter detention pro numbers into detention database with the appropriate charge.

Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

Requirements �College degree preferred
�Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
�Must be competent and proficient in Microsoft Office Software, including Excel and Access
�Must be able to learn PITT OHIO Proprietary Applications and other software as required
�Previous transportation experience preferred
�Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
�Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be able to manage and meet deadlines
�Strong organization skills are required; must be able to multi-task
