In conjunction with this agreement Intel Corporation (through Intel Capital); Google Inc.; Comcast Corporation; Time Warner Cable Inc; and Bright House Networks have collectively agreed to invest $3.2 billion into the new company. RF Engineering Manager (Kansas City or St Louis)Clearwire is seeking experienced RF Engineering Managers in various locations across the US. This position will involve managing part of the Clearwire’s RF Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for multiple aspects of RF engineering site selection support, RF field tuning/optimization, interference measurement/tracking, wireless backhaul and general RF field troubleshooting.Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of RF and Microwave Engineers in the design and deployment of next generation wireless broadband networks
  • Develop RF designs that maximize coverage, capacity, and performance objectives. This would include managing all aspects of the design process -- use of propagation and analysis tools; implementation of design guidelines and link budgets; issuance of search rings; and support for RF-optimum site selection/acquisition
  • Work effectively as part of a leadership team to ensure that design and deployment objectives, as well as timelines, are met
  • Work closely with outsourced vendors/contractors as needed to support RF services in new markets (backhaul, RF sweeps/clearing and RF coverage). This includes conducting detailed design reviews and market audits to ensure that all network objectives are fulfilled for microwave backhaul and RF coverage
  • Assist commissioning and field teams during site construction and commissioning
  • Plan and manage the market optimization process from commissioning to market launch.
  • Manage broadband data performance post-launch in both the RF and backhaul networks
  • Work closely with sales organization to plan and prioritize ongoing market expansion post-launch.Qualifications:
  • 7 to 10+ years of RF network design experience, additional experience with microwave network design preferred
  • Previous management/supervisory experience (with at least 3-5 direct reports) preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, Masters or higher degrees an asset
  • Strong RF systems engineering knowledge and analytical skills
  • Strong working knowledge of RF planning process and use of propagation tools, Planet EV preferred.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with RF instrumentation and tools
  • Working knowledge and experience in IP networking
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible person with the ability to manage stressful situations and adapt to changing environments
