Clear oral and written communication skills are a must.
Requires 5 + years experience in financial reporting process with major insurance and/or financial services company. Supervisory experience preferred. Minimum 7 years total business experience preferred.

License required: CPA

General education or equivalent: BS Accounting/CPA preferred.

Description:

Purpose of the Position:
Ensure AIG Retirement Services compliance and documenting of accounting under GAAP and AIG Accounting Policy.

Essential Functions:
Candidate will be responsible for reviewing significant investment accounting and hedging transactions, implications of new GAAP reporting pronouncements, and determining that proper documentation exists for key adjusting entries and GAAP disclosures. The candidate will become involved in a variety of different areas of accounting, including, but not limited to, partnership accounting (hedge funds, private equities), affordable housing accounting issues, derivative transactions, insurance accounting issues, special purpose entities, etc. In this role, the candidate will be expected to develop close working relationship with AIG’s Office of Accounting Policy (OAP). Other duties include implementation of new accounting standards & policies as they relate to AIG Retirement Services, Inc. (AIGRS). Candidate will be expected to keep current on new Accounting Standards (FASB, EITF, SEC, etc.) as it relates to AIGRS. Candidate will be expected to work with various areas of the organization including Finance, Treasury, Investments, Affordable Housing, Actuarial, AIG Comptrollers Group, etc., and will also assist with special projects as needed.
