Description The Opportunity:Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Field Service Engineering Technician. Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair SEL products to the component level.
  • Provide basic product technical support to SEL staff and customers.
  • Perform service related activities at customer sites.
  • Assist with the root cause analysis of field failures.
  • Write and/or conduct experiments in support of department objectives.
  • Provide support to engineering staff and management as needed.
  • Follow and improve SEL service related processes.
Requirements Qualifications:
  • Two-year electronic technology associate degree
  • Minimum 3 years experience providing technical service and/or engineering support in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics and microprocessors
  • Familiarity with modern test equipment
  • Strong writing and speaking skills
  • Willing to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Software programming skills in 'C', assembly, and communication script languages
  • Experience with troubleshooting microprocessor-based products
  • Practical knowledge of power systems
