Description The Lead General Accounting Analyst performs high level accounting/financial functions including financial analysis, performing advanced research, developing process improvements, and participating in audits and various other accounting tasks consistent with department objectives. This position is a lead expert on the team and may direct efforts of others to complete projects to meet department goals and objectives.
 
Accountabilities include:
 
1.     Prepares and analyzes schedules, reports and journal entries, and understands impact to Company financials.
2.     Engages in advanced research from multiple sources of information for purpose of identifying cause and effect relationships.
3.     Provides financial reporting (e.g. financial statements and management reporting) to meet customer expectations and deadlines.
4.     Identifies underlying, potential or complex problem areas and makes recommendations to appropriate levels of management and leads implementation.
5.     Leads preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS principals and standards.
6.     Processes monthly reconciliations/analyses and monthly closing procedures according to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and internal controls.
7.     Responsible for the preparation and filing of state and federal income, sales, and property taxes, as well as other applicable compliance reporting and corporate documents.
8.     Provides technical oversight of the general ledger, journal entries, accounts receivable and cash flow analysis including intra-bank account transfer logs.
9.     Develops and maintains financial reports using Hyperion and Excel applications.
10.  Works directly with outside auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
11.  Develops processes and implements improvements.
12.  Develops plans for project completion and directs efforts of others to assist in project completion.
 
Requirements

1. Prefer undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance with 5 - 7 years substantial diverse financial analysis and accounting experience, prefer MBA or advanced certification, e.g. CPA, individuals without a degree must demonstrate equivalent abilities and skills2. Requires advanced knowledge level of accounting and auditing generally accepted principals (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)3. Requires advanced skills with MS Office (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint) including query and database management programs and in depth understanding of financial/accounting systems/software, prefer experience with PeopleSoft4. Requires advanced attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills to identify problem areas when reviewing numeric information, to see patterns, trends or missing pieces, identify the similarities in current/past scenarios, and question inconsistencies to determine proper resolution5. Requires advanced verbal and written communication skills to conduct tasks via the telephone, through e-mails and various written documents6. Requires ability to work in matrix environment with understanding of the roles and relationship of organizational units and processes7.
