The Technology Risk Management Services (TRMS) group is focused on IT audit/security consulting, SAS 70 audits, business continuity planning and related IT consulting services. We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Business Development Sales Professional in our New York Office. The sales territory is the greater NYC metro area and CT.

TRMS Business Development Directors at RSM McGladrey are responsible for growing sales into target client segments. While the Business Development Director focus is on closing new TRMS opportunities, he or she will also identify and provide leads to other groups within RSM McGladrey. This is a senior sales position, with no direct reports or staff management requirements.

Responsibilities of the Business Development Director include all of the following:
  • Source new client leads
  • Coordinate conversion of new client leads, utilizing RSM professional services resources in a team selling approach
  • Identify new sales opportunities at existing clients
  • Transfer client relationships to appropriate RSM professional services resources
  • Focus on new business development within a 25 mile radius of midtown Manhattan; minimal travel


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, accounting, finance, business, economics or related field
  • 10+ years of demonstrated selling experience
  • Prior experience in selling consulting services


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree, a plus
  • Experience with a mid-tier, Big-Four Public accounting firm or professional/financial services firm a plus
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience developing executive-level client relationships
  • Understand middle-market and emerging companies with experience selling to client accounts of $15M to $500M in revenue
  • Active in the business community / networking involvement desirable
  • Strong prospecting, closing, organizational, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong listening skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate with all levels of client personnel
  • Ability to adapt sales approach to individual client situations, work through conflicts, articulate value propositions, gain trust and persuasively influence prospective client behaviors is essential
  • A persistent, results-oriented, self-motivated and entrepreneurial sales professional
  • Ability to use client knowledge and RSM McGladrey services knowledge to identify opportunities across the RSM service offering
  • Familiarity with SalesForce.com CRM program a plus
