TB MEASURE STDS TECHNICIAN

Description Perform the following duties for in-place and in-lab functions: determining the substitution of standards to measure the proper calibration traceability, inform supervision of any deficiency in measurement capability and recommend changes to meet requirements.
Respond to trouble calls and investigate measurement problems. May instruct using organization personnel as to proper operation and application of instruments when necessary.
Independently determine and perform the type and sequence of operation required to calibrate and/or repair all types of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical and electronic instruments and/or computers and associated peripheral equipment.
Perform necessary liaison to investigate measurement problems or to obtain clarification of design specifications.
Maintain current knowledge in the field to be able to utilize new measurement equipment and new measurement techniques with a minimum of orientation and training.
Perform evaluations to determine if instruments, test equipment, and/or computer equipment is maintainable/repairable within tolerances, and subsequently recommend typical materials, tools and equipment used.

Requirements Demonstrate competence in the art of calibration and repair of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical, and electronics instruments, such as temperature, pressure, vacuum, basic DC units, basic AC units, digital equipment, power supplies and recorders.
Technical knowledge in the field of physical sciences equivalent to completion of a two-year course in physical measurement, electronics, metrology, or other related subjects plus two years of directly related experience.
Must have ability to work at various heights on gantries and towers and to work in confined areas. Ability to use tools and equipment necessary to perform work described herein. Recertification in the use of these tools and equipment may be required to retain this job classification.
