The individual in this position will serve as part of the team in support of the mission, vision and values as established by the Health System. This person will assure that all fire and life safety policies and operations for the Health System are planned, and developed in accordance with the vision of the organization and in compliance with accreditation and regulatory bodies.
Under the direction of the Director of Safety and Emergency Preparedness, the Life Safety Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive fire and life Safety program for the Ohio State University Health System. This position designs, aids in implementation, and evaluates accreditation, environment of care and life safety functions. Serves as the subject matter expert for the Ohio State University Health System for fire and life safety. Provides reports and recommendations to the Director of Safety and Emergency Preparedness pertaining to life and fire safety, compliance, and environment of care. Assists with conceptualizing, planning, and implementing programs and activities related to the safety of patients, visitors, staff, and property. Monitors Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services,The Joint Commission, The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the National Fire Protection Association and other governmental and health care publications and websites for pertinent information applicable to the accreditation, compliance, and regulatory programs. Has knowledge of OSU Health System policies, rules and regulations and experience in budget management required. Serve as liaison with University and governmental officials, Board members, high level officials from outside hospitals and agencies, Health System executives and department head staff, departmental chairpersons, faculty, physicians, patients and the general public.
