ResponsibilitiesDefine, analyze, and monitor competitive environment and industry trends including but not limited to flows, fees, and investment characteristics. In addition to standardized monthly and quarterly reports, knowledge of competing fund features and benefits in order to proactively identify “talking points”/ key differentiators of WB products for both the institutional and retail marketplaces. Develop automated product quality scores across WB product mix for various intermediary platformsPerform custom advanced comparative analysis using third party database tools for WB Advisor solutions team and secondary support to institutional product specialists and institutional sales associates Time-sensitive assessment of vulture opportunities, synthesizing opportunities due to PM changes, performance and business risk at competitors into specific calling plans for institutional and intermediary sales teamsGeneration of standardized graphical reports indicating share of asset flows for executive internal audiences (Sales team, Mutual Fund board, etc)Relationship management for William Blair with primary intermediary database providers including: Morningstar, Zephyr, and AlbridgeParticipate in other projects as requested by management
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA preferred5 years related experience in investment analytics and/or investment marketing and distributionExperience using FACTSET to analyze basic portfolio performance preferredExperience interpreting Intersec, Callan Star, Strategic Insight, Cerulli, and other investment research analysisSeries 7 and 63 securities licenses preferredStrong analytical & problem-solving skillsSuperior computer skills & proficiency in all Microsoft Office software and database management softwareClear record of proactive thinking & demonstrated ability to work independentlyOrganized in planning, completing and documenting workAbility to prioritize tasks Detail orientedProficient in the use of standard industry databases such as: eVestment Alliance, SPAR, Wilshire Compass, Morningstar Institutional, Zephyr, SIMFUNDS, Strategic Insight, Callan PEP, HFRI, PertracAccustomed to working in a fast-paced, team oriented environmentUses independent thought and judgment
