Payroll Supervisor

Job Description

Manages all aspects of payroll ensuring payroll compliance and accuracy. Carries out responsibility for payroll preparation/processing and additional responsibilities such as tax reporting, records administration and payroll/time and attendance systems maintenance. Point of contact with Payroll provider to ensure accurate payroll and benefit processing in a timely manner.

Manages all aspects of the payroll process, such as establishing appropriate checks and balances to ensure compliance and accuracy
Prepare and review reports for general ledger processing.
Works closely with Benefits Department to ensure accurate benefits payment and confirm monthly benefit reconciliation
Oversees the administration of payment of wages, bonuses, commissions. Confirm with vendor payments for disability, garnishments and other company benefit payments.
Monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and analyses relating to benefits and garnishments; accrued payroll and other payroll-related accounts
Design and develop reports as needed to support payroll and other internal customers
Support periodic labor and payroll audits by providing pertinent data in timely manner to auditors as well as ensures all payroll data is filed and maintained accurately, orderly and securely
Wage garnishments interpretation and responsibility for compliance with agency notification requirements. Reply to garnishment notices, notify employees and other written responses as required
Notify Payroll vendor of any procedural or organizational changes affecting the Payroll services
Process any off-cycle checks
Confirms any reversal or stop payment of direct deposits/checks with Payroll vendor.
Ensures full compliance of Payroll processes and procedures with all Federal and state regulations.
Confirm tax registration with all applicable states/localities and ensure Payroll vendor has correct tax rates.
Work directly with Payroll vendors to resolve any discrepancies or system issues.
Oversee departmental monitoring of Payroll output interfaces and reports, transmissions to outside vendors for processing and collaboration with HRIS and IT on maintenance and enhancements
Prepare payroll tax reporting for Quarterly and Annual reporting for Federal and multi-state and local jurisdictions including unemployment taxes.
Development and implement and continuously improve, payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations relating to Payroll operations and control.

Job Requirements

Required Education & Experience:
5 years minimum Payroll and Accounting experience, including multi-state and Payroll tax experience. Experience managing staff.  Time and Attendance and payroll administration/processing experience required.  ADP, Empower Time and Attendance System software experience.  7 or more years related experience total.  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.  Certified Payroll Professional icensing preferred. 
Required Skills:
Exposure to global Payroll environment beneficial. May have one or more direct reports Strong computer aptitude and proficiency, including advanced Excel skills and enterprise reporting systems (Hyperion). Proficiency in other Microsoft office applications is a must – Excel, Word, Power Point Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail. Exceptional communication skills with ability to present analyses and findings in both verbal and written formats to all levels of management Proven leadership and management experience.   Solid working knowledge of Payroll practices and principles, Payroll tax and Payroll accounting.  Self starter with strong organizational, interpersonal and excellent customer service skills.
