Position Responsibilities Perform legal research and provide legal advice. Draft policies and procedures pertaining to legal issues or concerns. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other documents as necessary. Act as the preliminary point of contact for requests for legal assistance as assigned by the Chief Counsel. Coordinate filings for state quasi-judicial reviews. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Work effectively with all levels of staff, representatives of other public agencies and governing bodies. Evaluate and appropriately assess the legal implications of projects and issues assigned, raising issues to the Chief Counsel as appropriate. Advise and assist CalOptima management and staff in understanding and applying legal interpretations and requirements. Write clearly and concisely. Effectively utilize computer and appropriate software and interact as needed with CalOptima Information Systems. Experience & Education Juris Doctorate Law Degree with license to practice in the state of California required. Public agency and health care experience preferred. Knowledge of: Laws and regulations pertaining to the delivery of healthcare services, contractual arrangements and public agencies. Contracts development, appropriate language development and obligations of contract arrangements.
