Tax Senior - Real Estate Firm

National Real Estate Investment Firm in Thousand Oaks is looking for a Tax Senior to join their team.

Tax Senior will perform the following duties:
                                                                   

• Preparation of the federal and state income tax returns.
• Substantial interaction with accounting and other finance departments especially in regards to data collection.

• Research various tax issues, including complex partnership, REIT and state tax laws.
• Prepares projections of taxable income and earnings and profits in order to determine the required REIT distribution.
• Prepares the REIT quarterly checklist in order to ensure compliance with the REIT tax rules.
• Tax Senior reviews corporate and partnership legal documents and correspondence as needed to ensure correct preparation of tax returns.
• Assist in the accumulation of requested information and review of proposed audit adjustments by IRS and state and local taxing authorities.
• Perform Special Projects as assigned.

        

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related.
• CPA License (or CPA Candidate) preferred.
• Two to four years of relevant work experience including tax reporting responsibilities for Real Estate Investment Trusts, complex partnerships and or real estate entities.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with Big 4 or Regional public accounting firm at the Tax Staff or Tax Senior level.
• Demonstrate strong research, including written documentation skills.
• Strong computer skills (Excel and Word) and experience with tax preparation and research programs (i.e., Prosystems, CCH).
